Last week Nicolle, our shopper brought back the most delicious sugar cookies from the grocery store. They were those big, soft sugar cookies a.k.a. sugar cakes in our area. They had a large grained, coarse, crunchy (not colored) sugar on top that made them extra delicious. I never had sugar like that. It made those cookies.

I looked it up and evidently it was something called sanding sugar. My grocery store does not carry it on their shelves, but Amazon has it. If I ever get the time or energy to make sugar cakes again, I will be buying some of this sanding sugar to use on top of them.
