I like having a few around. Rarely eat ham as a protein for a meal but I like to add to a pot of soup especially.
Tonite is potato/ham soup and my favorite is split pea and ham.
Also it works good for a ham/potato/cheese casserole, also making linguine alfredo, a handful of cut up ham makes a good dish too.
I generally taste the ham first, if it's really salty, I give it a water bath.
