We have several times but it's sure messy and time consuming. Not a project for the last couple decades.

HUGE mess in the oven drying it out (this was way before dehydrators.)
In the 80's when all 4 kids were young (2 boys were his, mine 2 girls)

We'd do a project of beef jerky cause all the kids loved it.
All that work and 4-5 lbs gone in a weekend. OH well, the kids sure enjoyed it. None better than the homemade.
