This casserole is cozy, hearty, and packed with deep savory flavor!
It’s made with seasoned ground beef, fluffy rice, caramelized onion flavor, melty cheese, and a creamy base — all baked until golden and bubbly. It’s one of those no-fuss meals that hits the spot every time.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 (10.5 oz) can French onion soup
1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups cooked white rice
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss or mozzarella cheese (or a mix)
1/2 cup French fried onions (for topping)
Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess grease.
Add the French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir well until combined.
Stir in the cooked rice and 1 cup of the shredded cheese. Mix until everything is evenly coated and creamy.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheese over the top.
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and top with French fried onions. Return to the oven for another 5 minutes to toast the topping.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
