Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour (about 300 grams)
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups warm water (around 105°F)
1/2 tablespoon sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 bunch parsley, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
Instructions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
In a separate bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add the yeast mixture and oil to the flour mixture.
Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
While the dough rises, combine the chopped parsley, garlic, 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, vegetable oil, and melted butter in a small bowl. Set aside.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle (about 12x18 inches).
Spread the parsley-butter mixture evenly over the dough.
Roll the dough up tightly, jelly-roll style, starting from the long edge.
Cut the roll into 16 equal pieces.
Arrange the pieces, cut-side down, in a greased 10-inch pie dish. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy this delicious and nostalgic recipe.
