Preheat oven to 350F
In a buttered 8x8 dish, toss together
5-6 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
1/3 cup brown sugar
Dash or two of lemon juice
Dash of ground cinnamon
To make the topping, in a bowl combine
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp fresh ground nutmeg
Grate 1/4 cup of butter
Blend butter into the topping mixture with your fingertips until crumbly.
Spread the topping mixture over the fruit.
Sprinkle with a bit of ground cinnamon and add a few dabs of butter on top.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, until browned and fruit is fork tender.
Serve warm or cold. Extra yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
