Year of Manufacture: 2015 Engine Size and Code: a13fd ( Optional) Fault Codes: no fault codes
We look after a few of these vans which are essentially fiat forino's.
They all smoke ( blue/white ) when cold, and randomly when hot, its not a small amount but its enough to turn heads and make other drivers back off. when they first start from cold they're clean ( not valve seals) until they start to get warm.
They're all around 25k miles.
We have carried out a full induction clean inc removing the intercooler and cleaning that, next day just the same. one of them we replaced the turbo, no change. vented the pcv to atmosphire , no change
any thoughts would be welcome as I am out of ideas.
Hi No experience of this vehicle / fault but if it common across all the vans I would consider checking for software updates or possibly fuel quality if by any chance the stock own fuel for fleet.
Software update, when engine is cold the PCM receives information from the temperature sensor and advances engine timing until engine warms up, unfortunately advanced timing affects NOx emissions and manufacturers are concerned with reduce NOx. Check timing and temperature on live data and compare best with worst. Usually with advanced timing engine sounds noisier when cold.
