Fiat Ducato 2.0 2003 - Code U1600, non start, Immobiliser light on - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0
( Optional ) ECU Type: Bosch edc15
( Optional ) Scanner Used: KTS
( Optional) Fault Codes: U1600

Hello all.

Fiat Ducato Motorhome, (My granddads)after a couple of flat batteries now a non start.

Fault codes,

ECM - U1600 key no recognised.

Immobiliser module - 02 Transponder key not recognised

(Immobiliser light not going out)
1) Tried spare key.
2) Halo ring of a customers van.
3) Checked all fuses

A little lost as to where to go next, cant find much info regarding the code.

Any help would be great

Locate the immobilser box,which is bolted to the steering column ,behind plastic column shroud.Check the multi pin connector plug.There should be a constant battery supply to one of the pins (red if i recall)and ignition to the orange.Also check the black wire for a good earth supply.Do you have the emergency access code?If you do,then the engine should start with seguencing the throttle pedal.(refer to owners handbook,it's all in there)

They have a habit of doing that when trying to start with a flat battery and quite often damage immobiliser box.
Probably easiest to re-program chip in ECU to run without immobiliser and then re-map to erase U1600 fault code.

Hi all. So.

1) Yes I've found KTS can the reprogram keys. But no code, seems not to be supplied with Britsh reg Cars/vans.£39 from Fiat for the code.

2) Checked supply at Immo box, Neg, live and ing live all there.

3) More info on the removal Imm from ECM would be great, before I spend money on the code from Fiat. (we use Quantum Maps) but for what you said sounds like its a chip mod and also map the code out?

Hi all, tried entering the key code. 'incorrect code'. guess in immo module is faulty as it thinks it has 8 keys programed to it, after a quick google this is the common fault.

£188 plus VAT for a new module.

Anyone have a company they use to remove the immobiliser out of the ECM?

If you delete the immo it does become an insurance issue for your granddad. His insurance is based on the van having an immo, delete and it voids the insurance.

Fixed Immo deleted from engine ECU.
