VW Passat 1.9 AVB 2003 - EGR Valve, code P3130 / 19586 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 1892 cc AVB
( Optional ) Scanner Used: VAG COM
( Optional) Fault Codes: P3130 /19586

Hi Guys
This vehicle came in with P3130 egr system regulation range exceeded the car has done 110,000 the valve was blocked solid and the cat flexi had parted and was blowing badly we fitted a new valve and cat and tested all was ok . It came back in today with eml on and same code we have smoke tested and there are no leaks any one come across this before cheers John

Is this a vacuum operated valve?

Have you checked the vac, or applied vac while monitoring the MAF sensor?

You can test this system with the engine running at idle in Basic Setting, Channel 03.

This operates the EGR while displaying live data for MAF and duty to the vacuum regulating solenoid, giving you the opportunity to test the system under 'live' conditions to pinpoint whether you have a vac leak, solenoid, electrical or defective valve issue.

Thanks Chris and Jon for the response i have only just got back from a short break the vehicle is back in tomorrow i have smoke tested and couldn't see any leaks , it is mechanical so no electrical connections , the car is running sweet I will check the other readings cheers

Run the basic setting: channel 3, it tells you all you need to know.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the response the vehicle came back I looked at the figures on VAG COM and all looked well I reset the eml . The owner came back in after running it for a week and the eml has not come on I will re-post if it does cheers.
