Hello One and All, I'm just sitting at home with a niggle buzzing around my head.
We have one old Nissan Cabstar E pick-up in our fleet and the NATS 2 immobilizer has this year started to play up. I have nothing diagnostically to read this vehicle with, So the local Nissan agent has had it in for about 6 weeks and decided to replace the key reader coil around the ignition barrel and recode all the keys back in.
All has been good for the last couple of months but unfortunately the NATS 2 system is playing up again and the red led is staying on solid when the key is turned on.
I have been in contact with the agent on Friday and they have said their diagnostic man is off work at the moment and Will get back to me ASAP.
Now my question is, can this system on this diesel cabstar E be removed / bypassed? As far as I can tell the immobilizer only blocks the diesel pump. This pump is a manual cable operated rotary type (old school) with a single wire stop solenoid and three wires going to the back of the pump where the outlet pipes connect for the injectors. These are the wires which go to the small siemens NATS 2 box. The pump has a nissan part number on it . 16700 69T03. NP-VE4/12F1800RNP2247 104742-2020
Looking at the web it appears only the NATS 1 can be bypassed , But here's hoping.
So the little black box with the three little wires going to it was removed to reveal silicon chips and diodes on a pcb and under all that was a nice single wire soleniod .
So with some soldering and rewiring for soleniod switching, all is up and running on this 16 year old classic
