Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 qxba
( Optional ) Scanner Used: snap on verus
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0087 Fuel rail/ system pressure too low.

Hi everyone. I am trying to sort a mondeo which intermittently cranks over for some considerable time without firing. Cranking speed is good. The fuel pump has been reconditioned by a trusted specialist. The fault code stored is p0087 which relates to fuel pressure too low. Injectors or electrical issues? Anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas/ help welcome. Many thanks.

Hi Richard,what is your fuel pressure,on snap on its measured in KPA and should be close to 30,000 KPA on cranking and hit 80,000 at 3500 RPM.Also I've had issues with fuel filters on these.

Hello Richard, I doubt if anyone on here hasn't had the same problem! I don't mean to offend you but a bit more testing/posting will be needed. Injector leak back test would be my first port of call, also fuel pressure readings & rate of increase when good & bad starting.

For what it's worth I agree with Alan, please post some more info including a scope trace of the duty cycle of the IMV, the FRS & the battery voltage if poss.

Live data would be good as well, such as, RPM, AMM readings, fuel temp etc.
