Mazda 6 2.0 2006 - DPF light flashing - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0l
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Maxisys

I was called in by another garage to carry out a dpf regeneration on a mazda. They had cleaned the egr and replaced the oil. I did the regen then resets dpf and oil. Lights went out.

I then got a phone call saying the car had gone back into limp home mode with dpf light, engine management light and traction control light on. I wasn't told this was the original reason for the car coming in. I was only asked if I could do a regen. I had checked the live data and it was only about 18g, so I was surprised it needed done.

Fault codes??
Have you confirmed the oil dilution has reset properly in live data?
What Pressures are you seeing from dpf?

We need a bit more info if we're to offer any help

Kris, I haven't been able to reset the oil dillution with my Maxidas, but Autocom does it succesfully.

Hi
Is airflow correct?
Is Egr working correctly?
Do you have boost leak?- intercooler under nsf headlight prone for leaks
Is the correct grade of oil been used?
Is the oil at the correct level- repeated non successful regen raises the oil level very quickly on these
Has the oil been saturated with soot due to failure to regen??
Are temp sensor reading correctly??
Has the oil counter definitely reset.?
Has dpf in past been changed for a cheap and cheerful?
Is egr pipe blocked??
ETC

Not the best system to deal with faults can be masked- somethings blocking Dpf, you just need to work out what, after this I would do oil and filter and reset everything

Hi Kris,
Ive had a similar fault the final cure for mine was a new DPF.
Although I had done all previous checks as has been advised in previous posts.

The DPF light on the mazda 6 is also used to indicate a stretched timing chain !

Thanks for the replys. The dpf is defintily blocked. Took it of but is beyond cleaning. New one ordered! However the hole has got deeper. I was following the reset instructions on the maxisys. Which has always been a capable machine. When I tried reseting etb and egr. It's just kept trying but didn't seem to be working. I now have a code for egr incorrect coding and pcm fault and the car is struggling to rev. 😳

Just to finish of this post. Thanks everyone for the replies.

I took of the egr and it was stuck wide open. Cleaned it up and put back on. This cured the struggling rev problem. I then replaced the dpf and this cured the rest of the problems. Reset the data and all was good.

The wide open EGR will be the cause of the blocked DPF
