Mitsubishi Canter (Fuso) 3.0 2009 - Codes P0101 & P2263 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2009
Engine Size and Code *: 3.0 / 4M42
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Delphi DS150 / Caman Scan VCI
( Optional) Fault Codes: P0101 & P2263

I have the above vehicle which intermittently goes into limp mode, The following fault codes are showing and will not clear:
P0101 Mass air flow range / performance
P2263 Turbo Boost system performance
I have checked both sensors and both appear to be working ok and both record live data as below, what I would be interested in is, has anybody got any stored data from a similar vehicle to compare readings as I find it odd that both faults wont clear even with engine off? I have induced other faults and they clear ok.

650Rpm Map 101Kpa Maf 16g/s
2000Rpm Map 122Kpa Maf 63g/s
3000Rpm Map 108Kpa Maf 79g/s

Freeze frame data from fault P0101 is as follows:

87c Coolant
29c Air Temp
34% Load
2501 Rpm
89 Kmh
49g/s MAF
153 Kpa Map
179200 Kpa Rail Pressure

Obviously both turbo control and integrity of intake system checked !

Any help gratefully received ?

Your freeze frame data backs up your DTC.

It is not plausible, something is not as it should be, look into what could effect the readings.

One of the things I find strange is why the faults will not clear with engine off / ignition on then maybe return when started ?

I am confused, if it will not clear KOEO then how does return when started, surly if it does not clear then it can not return because it never went away?

Please explain, am I just reading it incorrectly ?

Basically I cannot clear the 2 faults listed, I would have expected to be able to clear them KOEO but they wont.

Others faults can be induced, ie: air mass open circuit etc and then cleared but these wont.

I have sen similar faults with Renault Trafic, but with them you can clear the faults with KOEO but then upon starting they return.

Sorry if the wording confuses ?

Hi John

what are the readings KOEO ?

One other thing that can be misleading is that with a permanent codes /fault present live data can (depending on how ecu software is written)show default values rather than actual sensor value.

Have you checked sensor circuits ?

Hi John, I had one of these recently that was giving fault codes for components that were performing correctly. I found corrosion and a loose connection in two large square connectors behind the front bumper, I think all engine ECU wiring goes through these, may be worth a look there quickly

Why is the freeze frame data maf reading lower at 2500rpm than that of 2000rpm but higher boost prrssure.

Is it egr related.

Also is the boost figure correct at 3000rpm. (I don't know just thought I'd ask).

Due to lack of technical info on this the customer was advised to let the dealer diagnose the fault, they confirmed the air mass meter at fault. It was replaced and all seems ok up to now !
