Audi A4 1.9 AFN 1997 - Code 00519 MAP sensor short to plus - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 1997
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9 AFN
( Optional ) Scanner Used: VAG COM
( Optional) Fault Codes: 00519

Hi

Got this in with low power, read fault code 00519 map sensor short to plus. I have tested and load tested all 4 wires on MAP to ecu and bypassed them, I have a brown wire on pin 1 off MAP sensor which is good earth with engine off but with engine running i lose the earth, is this correct?
I have replaced the MAP sensor with a genuine part.
On live data i get the boost pressure up to 2500 bar before code triggers?

I have smoke tested all air pipes and vacuum pipe, tested boost pressure solenoid and check turbo wastegate for seizing.

It seems like faulty ECU any advice?

Hi Shane
From what I remember the ecu only reads sensor voltage from 0.5 (ign on- plausibility check) to 4.5v.
Any thing under this it flags as a short to negative or open circuit,any thing over this as a short to positive.
Fairly confident you are getting an overboost fault,possibly siezed VVT,kinked vac hose etc

Thanks mark,
I assumed short to positive must mean short to positive!
I have checked all hoses and checked vacuum from boost solenoid, all seem good also the turbo rod is moving like it should with correct vacuum supply. I will have to strip turbo to see if vanes are stuck!

I've had good results with bg products 244 in tank ,
Chock pedal at 1200 revs for ten mins then give it a
hard drive.
I also believe forte turbo cleaner works similar
Worth a go for 15 quid!

Thanks mark,
It was sticky vanes. I had a Kent turbo save kit in stock which you remove EGR pipe and stick a long tube down to the turbo and release all the aerosol, leave for twenty minutes to soak then move turbo rod back and fore reassemble and job done.
I now have 2000 mbar at full turbo pressure. Not 2500.
