Vauxhall Zafira 1.9 2007 - Code P0340, very poor starting and rattle - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2007
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9
( Optional ) Scanner Used: kts/pico
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0340

Hi

Very poor starting and rattle from engine, p0340 come straight back after every crank. Unsure as to whether this is a correct Cam to Crank Syc, it looks out to me?

quite common for these engines to shear the keyway on the crank gear, i think you'll need to remove the pulley to see it.

Thanks Tony and Steve, yes all the evidence seems to point to the crank pulley, though I still cant get the pulley bolt out!

Just in case you have not discovered it yet but the bolts are left hand thread.

You dont say if you have a Z19DT or Z19DTH Jason, but either way it's out, I posted a known good Z19DT in this tread.

The crank bolt is Left hand thread & usually a tad on the *king tight side.

Thanks all, both Cam and Crank pulleys checked and found to be ok, checked the timing MYSELF with the correct locking pins, as it turned out to be the DTH engine and found to be 2/3 teeth out, why it was out I've no idea, new belt etc, starts and rtuns fine.
