Renault Laguna 3 2.0 dCi - Auto gearbox oil change? #

Year of Manufacture *: 2010
Engine Size and Code *: M9R 802

Hi all
I have a high mileage taxi driver with this vehicle requiring the Auto trans oil to be changed.
Auto data says 3.5l of Elfmatic J6 and shows a (poor) diagram of drain and refill points.
I've had a quick look underneath and cant see the drain plug. Is there really one there?
The refill point is another problem altogether as it looks like battery/tray needs removing to even see the area!
Dealer says you cant buy Elfmatic J6 in litres!
Is it the same as anything else available elsewhere?
Any help please?

Does it have a gearbox fault ?

A dry box needs 8 litre,s, so as you can only drain off 3.5 litre, you will have to drain, top up then run then drain again several times to do any good.You may need 20 litre,s of fluid.

As its a weir type level the drain/level plug is easy to spot due to it being double plug.

Do you have the diag,s to measure the fluid temp ?

No gearbox fault Kevin - yet.

Oil change is just a precaution, and before you tell me it never needs changing, I recommend to all my customers to change ATF at 30-40k.It can only do it good in my opinion.
I'll look again for the drain plug, can you tell me how to get to the filler?
Is there any other make of fluid one can use?
I assume my Launch will show box temp?

But you will only be changeing less than 50% of the fluid, do you inform you customers of that ?

This is ongoing lads.
I had this back in today for looksee and
sorry but there is DEFINATELY no drain plug!
Any Renault techs out there to help?

Hi Colin

Had a word with Richard an Ex Renault Tech in a workshop behind me and he thinks this probably has a sealed for life gearbox

You may need to drop the pan off the bottom and refill with what drains out, probably not all the oil will drain
