Usually these things don't log fault codes for EGR faults. Especially hard starting or non-start ones, where the mechanical part of the valve is partially stuck open. The mechanical part is available separately.

However, it's becoming common for the valve to seize in such a way, it's killing the ECU/EGR drivers.

2.0 D4ea: Check for power at (pin 2) and ground (pin 1) at EGR, Circuit is earth control via ECU. If no earth, or permanent earth, then ECU is fubar'd.

1.6 d4fb: Check for a switching power/ground at pins 1 & 3.
Feedback supply voltage on pin 6
Feedback signal on pin 4
Feedback graound on pin 5

Check supply & ground switches dependant on TPS signal (eg 40% idle to 0% on accel) if no voltage change. ECU fubar'd, and they're on back-order.
