VW Transporter T4 1.9DT ABL - Oil light on - Unresolved #

Year of Manufacture *: 2001
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9 DT ABL

Hi,
Had this one in with the oil light and buzzer going off at 2000rpm. I have checked wiring and rewired to cluster. Fitted new switch, oil pressure has been checked.
Any help please

Sounds like this is the old system with 2 pressure switches (high & low)have both been checked ?

If it comes on a 2000 rpm that should tell you something, look on erwin and see how i suspect this system works, i,v not checked your engine code but lot,s of VW have a slightly more complex system than just an oil pressure switch.

I was told about the to pressure switches but can only find one by the oil filter housing.

Look on erwin/elsa, most likely an SSP on this engine or phone TPS and ask them to fax a parts list for the lubrication system (or use an OEM online)

There are 2 x O.P switches on this engine, a brown 0.3bar which off memory switches open circuit at pressure over 0.3bar & is on the end of the head.
& a grey 0.9 bar switch on top of the cast oil filter head which switches to closed circuit at a maximum of 1.1 bar.
Also
Check the alternator charge rate - charging issues can set the oil warning off on these at increased revs.
Slipping alternator drive belt etc....

Check your email for info on this system.

As Kev says "VW have a slightly more complex system than just an oil pressure switch"

Normally, a broken wire on the back of the alternator, will cause the oil pressure light to come on.
