Vauxhall Vivaro 2.5 G9U 2005 - Non start after engine change, codes P0190 - Ongoing #

Engine Size and Code *: 2.5 g9u
( Optional ) Scanner Used: solus and kts
( Optional) Fault Codes: p0190

Hi

I have just changed engine and now wont start will fire on easy start, had to fit new turbo which was the original problem engine ran off with its self on own oil, new injectors and glow plugs cant find any thing to reprogram injectors on the solus or kts, live and earth to rail pressure sensor and 0.65 volts on output wire, rail pressure rises to 90000kpa on cranking is this to high?

Is that rail sensor voltage key on or cranking ?

Are you sure of the rail pressure reading & units ? is it the same on both scanners ?

the voltage readings is with the key on the pressure readings are with it cranking kts 90000kpa and the solus 972 bar cranking

is 972 bar low pressure on cranking should i do a leak off test on the injectors even though they are reconditioned ?

did a leak off test today on new/reconditioned injectors there is a excessive amount of fuel coming out of 2 injectors compared to the other 2 injectors i dont know how much they should leak back if any thing ?

Leak off results should be near enough even

What do you call excessive and what's the difference between good and bad

did you use the old rail or a different one

thanks for the reply tony yes I used the old rail, the leak off pipes are about 18 inches long to the bottles and cyl 1 and 3 are about 4 inches up on cranking, were as cyl 2 is about 8 inches and cyl 4 about 12 inches I hope that sort of explains it, i cant find out what the rail pressure should be on cranking ,and also if they need programming as nothing on my solus or kts thanks paul

Does that fault code return at key on or only after cranking ?

what is the sensor voltage on cranking ?

972 bar sounds on the high side to me for cranking pressure.

Is all other live data accurate & correct ?

Get this on Tech 2, rail pressure should be about 300 bar at idle. You need to look at disired/actual pressure.
Is it easytronic by any chance ?

checked the fuel pressure and it was 900 bar cranking and rising higher, have changed the fuel pressure sensor on fuel rail and still no go the code that now comes up is p1882 fuel pressure information, it tries to start when pressure reaches about 300 bar but as it rises higher it it stops trying what else can control the fuel pressure ?

thanks for your reply aiden im losing sleep over this van, is the electric pressure regulator on the hp pump or on the fuel rail, as with this vehicle there is only a pressure sensor on the fuel rail and a mechanical regulator on the other end thanks paul

Hi

Not personally familiar with this engine but would expect it to be a CP3 HP pump which will have a regulator on the pump.

Are All the low pressure pipes correctly connected ?

i think the low pressure pipes are fitted corectly will recheck i thought the electrical unit on the hp pump was the fuel metering valve

No expert here but this is my understanding of the system if it is Bosch CP3

The metering valve is on the hp pump and excess fuel is returned directly from the pump to the tank. IE only the required amount of fuel goes to the hp side and to the rail.

It might be an idea to check the return from the pump while cranking and see if it is returning fuel. Ideally you need to scope the imv to see whats it,s being asked to do.

As kevin said about 300bar is idle pres.

Is the original hp pump fitted or is it from the donor engine.

IF you have still got this give your no had one exactly the same last year and sorted after head scratching replaced engine with new from dealer and wouldn't start the same readings as yourself and fault code.

We had a vauxhall vivaro that we put new injectiors in and we had to have it reprogamed at vauxhall as they was the only people that could do the reprogaming. Our's would also run on easy start or wd40. We had use of a few different sanners. Hope this helps.

what tests have you actually done other than an injector leakoff? if excessive that would have the opposite effect on the pressure. sounds like you've got something like a sticking imv on the pump, a wiring mismatch on components or even damaged loom with wires chaffing
900bar at cranking is way too high

this does not answer the first question of the van not starting after fitting engine and new injecters, also not having them programed to the van ECU, which have to be programed at vauxhall. Without that they will run on easystart but not on it's own.

whether or not these injectors are coded in should not stop it starting, they are only coding calibration data, not security data.
also they don't need to be coded at a vauxhall/renault/nissan dealer, i have at least 3 diag tools that will do these.
