Peugeot 406 HDi 2004 - White smoke & slight misfire - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 HDI
( Optional ) ECU Type: Simons
( Optional ) Scanner Used: KTS

Any advice much appreciated.

Owner said engine revved by itself, then white smoke from then on. From start up, slight misfire (comes and goes), consent white smoke from exhaust.

Round 1:

Oil level found to be excessively high (owner has admitted to "topping" it up with oil) drained out oil, then drove it to burn off oil from exhaust, on test drive missfire got worse and smoke stayed.

Round 2:

Compression test all between 300-350 psi.

Round 3:

Fault code relating to No.2 cylinder, swapped the injector with No3 and the fault code followed injector and low reading from bleed off test. New injector, smoke still remains. (Simons ECM, give injector vales in %, new injector gives 100% reading and the other 3 between 60% and 120%).

Round 4:

Smoke/random misfire, still remains, defiantly smells on fuel, now on Auto Talk for advice! Please! Many thanks.

what is teh history of the car? Bent conrod? Done one few monts back very similar issues. But customer was honest and admit car went through the flood and it saved his pocket.

UPDATE.

The misfire has gone, the white smoke out of the exhaust is toxic, defiantly smells of fuel, and fills the workshop in seconds.

Blanked of each fuel line to the injectors one at a time and ran it on 3 cylinders. white smoke still there. Fuel pressure is normal.

HELP

ALSO, injection quantity seems really low at 4mm3 at idle.

ALSO, after draining some oil out of the sump bring it down to normal (thinking the owner had over filled it). But after running the engine for a while, the oil level has once again gone up! Way past MAX.

To get HELP you will need to supply answer,s to question asked.

Well it won,t be making oil, so it,s getting topped up with diesel, which will explain the over-revving.

Customer is 80, cant get any info out of him in regards to for how long it "over revved for"

Also my thoughts, I've been running though why it is over fueling, fuel pressure normal etc.... no return lines blocked.

Lets gets the facts correct, what engine code RHY ? Siemens control system. What does your info system state for compression,s ?

Is it overfueling ??? could explain why you think it is ?

Sent injectors away for testing, 3 found to be over fuelling, 3 new injectors and a oil change problem solved!
