Year of Manufacture *: 2005 Engine Size and Code *: 1900 f9q800 ( Optional ) Scanner Used: WOW ( Optional) Fault Codes: DF053 Fuel pressure reg function
Hi
Car stalls at idle and whilst driving.Fuel pump reading 1500 bar and rail pressure reads 1.1 volts at idle and goes upto 4.1 volts whilst driving. Fuel pressure drops off as the car stalls. Checked for duty cycle to Fuel metering valve.
Eliminated fuel pipes by running car on separate fuel supply to the pump and the fault was the same. With live data checked pedal sensor and it starts at 0% and goes to 125%?

A good place to go now would be to check the fuel supply from the low pressure pump. Stick a fuel pressure gauge on the low pressure side and monitor while the fault is happening. Fuel supply should be 2.5bar from memory. You could also scope the current supply to the in tank pump.

As a rule CP1 has a supply pressure of 2.5 bar ish
CP3 may have a pre supply (normally electric) of about 0.5 of a bar but normally it has a mechanical gear pump attached to the back of the high pressure pump (running off the same driveshaft) that feeds the ZME (IMV) internally.

Hi Richard, I have this for code df053 running edc16 (not sure on the pump type) If glow plug light is orange look at 3.DEF/8.DEF. If light is red look at CC.0/CC.1/CO/ 1.DEF/2.DEF/5.DEF/6.DEF/7.DEF. If light not on look at 4.DEF. fixed hi everyone fault occurred on road retested high pressure pump it was giving 1600 bar moved on to mechanical pressure relief valve found it bleeding off pressure constantly to the point ecu picked up deviation and went into limp home mode thanks to all for responces
