Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi 2007 - Injector replacement #

Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 tdci

peugeot engine and no4 injector is chuffing past seal any one done one and a realistic time for the repair and do they seize in the cylinder head thanks paul

These are pretty straight forward once you have stripped manifold etc to get to the injectors. they are tight but never had one we couldnt get out with a little patience. seal/copper washer and rubber seal are about £20 from peugeot. quote on 3hrs and you will be fine

I've done one and it wasn't to bad other than the amount of carbon build up around injector which had baked onto the head. This needs to be removed 1st to try and avoid any carbon falling down injector hole as its removed.

I scraped most of it away and used a vacuum to suck what i could up.

I think there are different types of wahser thickness so check it out 1st.

I removed the egr valve from the back of the head as i couldn't separate the metal pipe at the clamp for some unknown reason but you'll see what i mean once your in there.

My advice though is do them all at once which i regret not doing. We've done a couple of peugeot's since and always do all 4.

As an aside, it may be worth replacing the injector leak off pipe set whilst you're there too.

Also, don't forget to re-cut the head seat or it will be back

Agree with the other replies, but I get the engine as hot as I can first, the shit build up is usually soft and guey then and makes it a bit easier to get the injector out, as it cools it turns to concrete and then you can chip and scrape it way easier.

Also you might need a tool to remove the copper sealing washer from the head.

And be careful cleaning the injector, i just scrape the carbon off with a stanley knife, but DON'T clean the nozzle tip

And just to cover your back, Warn the customer that if for any reason it doesn't run properly after disturbing the injectors then its there problem, Not yours. Explain that the injectors are very sensitive and disturbing them can cause problems on the odd occasion.

I have never done the job myself but I have seen lots of garages do these and end up with lacking power, misfires etc. Most likely due to them cleaning the injector nozzles with a wire brush, but they never admit it.

Better safe than Sorry.

as an addition to what tony said above
when you refit the injector use a torque wrench as overtightening can be a cause of lack of power by stressing the injector body

not the best job, 3hrs. can be a bit tight for one bad one, if you end up doing all four depending on how gummed up they are it could take 4hrs. upward, i alway renew the plastic seals at the top of the injector tube in addition to the copper washers & generally end up re-cutting the seat.
