VW T5 1.9TDi PD - Injector bore scoring #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9

Hi all have a T5 in with diesel entering the oil, turns out to be by passing the O rings on the injector seals due to scored injector bores
Now the problem I got is the customer has supplied a RECON engine but on receiving it to build up I have noticed it has scoring of the injector bores opposite the injector clamp (not as bad as the original engine)
But my question is how much scoring is acceptable? if any? in a ideal world it would have none.

Sorry to say but the answer is none.

Any damage can lead to you being back at square one with a pissed off customer.

Hello Scott, I don't think anyone can give you an answer to how much wear is acceptable. This is a common problem due to the poor design of clamping the injectors on one side. All you can do is to make a note on the invoice & make the customer aware that oil level needs to be checked regularly. I've done alot of these & not had a problem yet. (I notice payen don't supply injector seals in their headsets - perhaps they don't want any claims?)

Thanks for the replys I have been in contact with the engine supplier just to be told he will get back to me

Looks like we won't be fitting this engine.

If you haven't already fitted the engine then that's probably your best option. I've never seen a head with no wear & there's nothing an engine re-conditioner can do about it without fitting a new head - keep us posted.
