Renault Master 2.5 2003 - No power, running in limp mode, code DF019 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 2500
( Optional ) ECU Type: Bosch
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Launch

Just inherited this job after another garage has done all they can to cure the fault, seems that the van will run and drive normally then for reasons not yet explained the system goes into limp mode whilst being driven. Code read with Launch the fault is DF019 Air flow sensor circuit, incoherence of data, read with garages Autocom the result is the same. Now maybe i'm going mad or missing something but there is no air mass sensor to be found, it would seem to be a French way of doing diagnosis to look for the mystery missing object but more than likely there is some sort of software error, or more likely still old git or human error meaning me, please put my mind at rest and tell me i'm not going mad and point me on the road to redemption, i'm leaning toward a wiring loom fault and as yet have no relevant data so must find a decent wiring diagram, p.s. the ecu has been away for a test and passed. Your thoughts would be most welcome.

I did hear about similar problems like yours. !st thing - clip diagnostics wouyld help .Then how is the air measured in this engine? Map? Is the egr working ? Does it have egr?

Hi Paul

Try resetting the egr learned values. You should have a email for a vaux movano [ I think it is the same]

Some don't have a air flow, and some don't have a egr also. If that is the case look at the map sensor or boost pressure sensor. hth.

Have seen this fault on many occaisions the ecu obtains information on loading from map and egr together with throttle and temp etc,very few are fitted with air mass,why it produces this air mass code is probably just French!or the software your Launch uses interprets the results in error.Most likely cause is egr as expressed by others,try clearing codes and drive without egr attatched,check plug to egr whislt removing, notorious for contamination.As suggested by Ian try resetting egr settings as though adapting in new unit.May need software updating to change egr settings will need clip to upgrade.Hth

check egr and sensors as stated

check egr pipe as well (not blocked)

reset self adapting parameters a must

It may not have an AMM but that does not stop it having an air mass monitoring CIRCUIT which is what the fault code hi -lights as the issue.

As others have said start with the basics and look at live data to see what does not add up.

Look at it as a plausibility fault code.

Finally got back to this after the EGR had been removed and checked and subsequently replaced. reset ECU adaptions and road test, been out on the road for 2 days now with no issues to report, thanks to all who replied, seems to be cured, and thanks for the e-mail with the Vauxhall technical bulletin regarding this problem, it seems that even on Tech 2 the code description leaves something to be desired. according to the bulletin the cause of the problem is "incorrect learning of EGR parameters in engine ECU" as has been correctly pointed out the EGR can be regarded as part of the air flow circuit, but its bloody confusing when the code description says air flow sensor circuit.
