Kia Sedona 2.9 TDi 2001 - No fuel to injectors - Fixed #

Engine Size and Code *: 2.9 tdi j3

Hi

I had this one towed in from rac as i non runner.

First of all i can not find the dlc. so i have just gone back to basics. I primed filter head and it seemed to have air in it so i checked fuel and it seemed low so i topped up. after priming i can only get fuel to injector 3 and not a drop to any of the others. Injector 3 has plenty of pressure coming out of injector pipe.

Why would i have fuel to one injector and no others?
If the stop solenoid or immobliser is on should it stop fuel to all injectors?

Do you think its a injector pump fault?
Would try and test stop solenoid if i could get at it but there is no room, so thought i would ask questions first.

OMG

Do you realize how dangerous that is.

Do a forum search on sedona and the problems with these have been posted before, both Martin Young and I have had problems.

If you don,t want it keep coming back it will get expensive for your customer.

It most likely has 2 dlc,s one of which will be in the engine bay.

You do realize it is an injector pump and not high pressure pump. Have you not ever slackened the pipes to clear the air!
I just meant there is fuel coming out one of the pipes and looks like it has enough pressure to allow the injector to inject.
I will check out other forums.

Question: what is an Injection pump if its not a high pressure pump?

Hi Shane,

I'm aware that the pump fitted to your vehicle is a rotary pump, but it is still a high pressure pump that can generate somewhere in the region of 250 Bar at cranking speed and about 900 Bar (if not more)at full load/speed.

What tests have been carried out on the low pressure side of things ?

What make/model is the rotary pump and can you check cam box pressure?

Hi mark,
I have put my own fuel supply in and still nothing out of 3 injectors. I tested power and earth on 3 pin plug on immobilizer on back of pump and all seem correct with key switch on, and there's feed coming out on 3rd wire. I,m in process of removing pump now and taking off immobilizer to check stop solenoid and looking for metal filings.
I,ll keep you posted.

Hi again, I removed pump and removed immobilizer unit and tested stop solenoid with 12v supply, which it worked.
I have now fitted second hand pump which customer supplied and all worked perfectly.
