Jaguar X-type 2.0D 2005 - Misfire and tapping from top end #

Engine Size and Code *: 2000 AJD
( Optional) Fault Codes: None

Hi, hoping someone may be able to help me.

This car came in with a misfire and tapping from top of engine.

I scanned and found no codes on EOBD.

Carried out a leakoff test and found cyl 2 injector to be leaking badly, so replaced and tried again.

Car runs slightly better and tapping noise has gone, although a misfire still remains.

I carried out a leakoff test again and cyl 2 injector gave a reading of 4.5ml, which i consider to be bang on for a new injector, but the other 3 cylinders produced 10ml in the same time.

Would anyone else change the remaining 3?

Have you done any testing with regard to the missfire ?

had one a while back the same,pull the cam cover off & you will find the cam caps may have pulled out of the head!,it will prob need a new head if thats the case,hth , keith

Pulled the cam cover off as i was curious after keiths comment, but all present and correct.
Sent the injectors off for testing now, so hoping they come back as being faulty, as not sure where to look next!

While the injectors are out it might be worth rigging something up to measure the piston heights.
It has been known a faulty injector can cause a bent con-rod on these engines.
