Peugeot 206 1.6 9HY HDi 2006 - Violent jerk / misfire, code P2566 charge air control #

( Optional) Fault Codes: P2566 Charge air control.

Dear All,

Have this Pug206 which has an intermittant "death jerk". Its is as if the ignition switch has been vey quickly turned off and on. Sometimes once, others twice in quick succesion.
I have found fault codes for charge air control(p2566) in the memory which I think may be a red herring as three times over the last few days the fault has occured without generating codes.
My approach to this fault after inspecting hoses, wiring and loom was to examine the live data on roadtest. I could stop recording having experienced the fault, pull over and look at all manner of sensor and actuator readings but nothing seems to show. Injection duration, airmass, boost pressure, throttle and EGR position all look fine after the event.
Has anyone experienced this style of fault before?

Does this have a position sensor on the wastegate?

Live data ( aka nearly live data in my workshop) is not quick enough to pick up a sensor output glitch. You need to measure the signals with something quicker.
Going on the symptoms as you describe them, the first thing I would look at would be the CKP signal.

Yes it does have a position sensor on the turbo actuator.

Although Alan Kane is quite correct in suggesting that live data is too slow for this fault occurance after roadtesting with the Pico connected to cam and crank sensors I now know they are OK.
Carl Ford asks has it got a lift sensor on the turbo actuator- and it has.
The fault code retrieved with KTS, P2566 when read with a friends Planet kit reports : "Intermittant fault, Turbo position repeat signal valve blocked when engine switched off"
I am begining to think the ECU is shutting down the injection. Am I right in thinking the turbo needs adapting/adjusting or setting up in some way?
It gets worse. The lift sensor is not available seperatley, new turbo £800 + vat from Peugeot.
The lift sensor tests fine on the scope when actuated with Mityvac, 0 - 4.2 volts.
This fault is difficult to reproduce as it requires hard acceleration and being quick you can run out of road. I have lost hours roadtesting with my Picoscope. It seems nobody has experienced these symptoms with turbo lift/repeat sensor and without that reassurance I have decided to return the car to the customer. I have replaced the turbo actuator solenoid but experienced the fault since but without reoccuring fault codes. I have a nagging feeling that I have missed something. Customer wants his car back and is making no fix no pay noises. This job has defeated me and I don't feel good.
