Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2.2 315 CDi 2008 - Drops into limp, codes 2011 and 2672 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2008
Engine Size and Code *: 2.2, 646.986
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autocom

Can anyone please help with a wiring diagram or pin data for the above vehicle. It regularly drops into limp mode with the following codes 2011, AMM-too low flow and 2672 Ambient and IAT sensor plausibility. Both intermittent. Codes clear readily, but re-appear on the next run. I have not a great deal of experience of testing digital AMM's but the trace and frequency looked acceptable. The wiring around the ecu is very tight, and I suspect a fault in this area. I lost comms at one stage, and easing the wiring around the ecu re-established comms. So my next stage is to check the integrity of the wiring on this not yet three year old camper van with less than five thousand on the clock! Autodata, Vivid and Tolerance do not appear to recognise it.
Any help or guidance in the right direction gratefully received,

Hi peter,

ESI is showing wiring diagrams with a choice of two depending on control system fitted.

The fault codes both point to a lost of power to the AMM if that helps.

thanks for the quick response! Autocom just identify the system as CR4, which got me no further. My notes show a four pin AMM, pin 1 (black/white)nbv, pin 2 (yellow/brown) earth, pin 3 (grey/yellow)gave a low speed digital output and pin 4 (green/yellow)gave a 2.4 kHz plus output. Unfortunately I didn't save the traces. Does that help identify the system? It looks as though I might have to add ESI to my armoury,

can you get me a part no for the ECU ?

PS. I have done a bit more digging and I think it is a EDC16CP 31 system.

and as said before both codes could point to a loss of power/earth on the AMM.

What about linking in a small bulb/LED into the circuit and taking the vehicle for a test run ?

This would at least confirm your thoughts.

from what you are saying, IAT is built into the AMM? That's what I assumed, but could not confirm. I will 'scope supply and earth on a long trace and monitor them. A wiring diagram would still be useful and I will get the ecu number for you,

Ecu numbers are 0 281 013 810. Today I only got the occasional 2011 code, but no definite pattern as to when it would occur. 'scoping supply and earth on a long time base gave no definite dropouts. This might land up at the Dealers as there may still be a warranty on it, but they were being cagey,

Ive seen a few faults causing fault 2011,The most common cause is airfilter programing,Yes if a new filter is fitted it needs adaptions set.Most of the mercedes range is like this now the 2.2 and 3.0 cdi is the most common one ive seen this on.

Hi Guys, Roy you are right, i have had this code come up before and after a lot of head scratching i re-adapted the AMM and had no further problems. just to confirm i went in to star and checked sure enough you have to initialize the air filter after replacement.
it's getting more crazy every day.

P.S. Peter these vehicles have a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty so depending when it was registered is could still be under warranty.

I've referred the customer to the dealer who is being cagey about the warranty as it's a camper, and they reckon these tend to be based on parallel imports, with only a two year bumper to bumper warranty. They would not commit themselves on the VIN number alone, and insisted on seeing the vehicle. I will post the final outcome. For future reference, what kit will re-adapt these AMM's?

Thanks for all the help. Dealer replaced a 'temperature sensor', but the customer was not that sure which or where, and adapted the AMM. They were that busy that they mot'd it on the spot and he was back home for elevenses, everything running fine,

Boost temp sensor is common on these.
