Renault Megane 1.5 DCi 2004 - Will not start when cold - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 54 plate
Engine Size and Code *: 1.5dci

Car came to me after every man and his dog had looked at it, new injectors, new glow plugs, new glow plug, relay, wont start when cold found glow plugs not working, traced to glow plug relay earth or lost earth, ive cut the wire and earthed straight to battery and glow plugs work is the earth a timed earth through ecu or is it just a earth i cant find any wiring diagrams

The wiring diagram you need is on AD, Tolerance and Vivid.

checked wiring diagram the brown wire to the glow plug relay is the earth which goes to the ecu ,with the plug disconnected there is 4.45 volts i presume these glow plugs only come on when temp very cold, and come on and off for emission purposes, so i could be looking at wrong problem finally got it started and only thing that looks odd is egr valve percentage at idle is 19 is this correct ?

i have also checked leak back which is ok, and cleaned out egr which was very dirty it does sound a bit low on compression one one cylinder when starting, will try it again in morning from cold

The voltage does not sound right on the relay switching wire, start at the basics and move forward, let me know how you get on with the compression test.

after a bit more info from customer, it turns out its not had a service or oil change for 16000 miles, this is after he has just spent £400+ at another garage trying to sort out cold start issue, so i flushed it and changed oil and stuck a fuel cleaner in tank and also the other garage had fitted new injector to no4 cyl but had not coded it in so ive done all that and its fingers crossed for the morning

car started ok this morning think it was down to a good flush and oil change the rail pressure was around 240 bar at idle but dropped to 4 bar when switched off i dont know if this is correct thanks for help
