Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 2005 - Starting issues, code P0191 #

hi guys got a mondeo tdci brought to me with an occasional starting up issue and a p0191 stored, when starting i noticed a low idle which seems to be linked to fuel pressure as after a few seconds fuel pressure would rise slightly and than idle fine. However luckly it seems to have given up whilst i was looking at it i have a crank signal and cam signal but fuel pressure signal wont rise from the half volt you get with ignition on, i have tried disconnecting imv and injectors to see if pump will produce any pressure still nothing i have no blockages in lines and fuel in the tank and it doesnt seem to have a lift pump tank end is this enough to condemn the hp pump or am i overlooking something thanks lee

Hi Lee
Have you done a injector spill off test???
Excessive leak off can cause fuel pressure drop.
We disconnect injectors blank off returns you can dissconect IMV crank 5 secs check for spill off

do you know what the engine code is??
have you carried out a leakoff test,when was the fuel filter last changed?
scope the imv valve as i think if its unplugged it wont fire up due to being unable to control fuel pressure
p0191 is fuel rail pressure range performance

sorry forgot to mention leak back seemed fine when it was running, an now its not running i have no leak back at all on cranking (i think due to having no fuel in the rail) p0191 has not returned but code relating to injector control pressure to low is now present also i have checked filter which looks new but had hardly any diesel in making me think the hp pump isnt able to pull it up, vacuum on hp pump was about 5 in hg not sure if this is good or bad not sure on engine code as covered in rust on block ill get to it shortly and let you know. Not scoped imv but i know with it disconnected and injectors on cranking the hp pump should produce pressure not start but defo produce pressure and i dont have any thanks for the quick replys

Hi Lee , i would have a sample of fuel incase you have a worn pump .Make sure you have the grey cam sensor fitted .Check pump pressure at back of pump
