Citroen C5 2.0 HDi RHZ 2004 - Running faults after service #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 20 hdi rhz
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Modis

Car came in for regular service our apprentice broke fuel filter housing when changing filter, filter housing replace with genuine citreon part, road test car stoped after 300 meters leave for five minutes and restarts, have chack all connections and after lots of testing im lossing the 12 v feed to the low pressure pump and then it returns after 5 mins, if stantory the car can be reved steady and no problem but if u rev fast as blip the throttle it cut out as fule pressure is lost only code is Poo89 fuel pressure montering Have some live data rail pressure is 235 bar at idle and held at 2500 rpm its 455 bar any one know why im loosing fuel pump feed please help Wayne

Hi Wayne, you're probably lossing the low pressure fuel pump feed because of a fault in the high pressure monitoring/control.
ie the ECU is shutting the low pressure pump off to shut the system down.
When the fault occures if you clear the fault code the car will probably restart right away, if so then you need to do some testing on the system to see what is going wrong.

Remove and check the pressure regulator in the back of the high pressure pump, good chance it has been contaminated with dirt from the filter.

I agree with Tony, that why its best to clean the canister and its connections and then replace the whole canister.

Hi Leak offs checked and one was slighty more than otheres so changed that injector still no different ???

Try removing regulator from hp pump and checking the condition of the fuel in the back of the pump then wipe out with a rag and blow out the back of the pump and regulator with an air line and then try it again as I appear to becoming across this type of fault quite reguar. If this does work you have an issue with contaminated fuel and it is not a perminent fix it just confirms the problem I have had these cure the problem for long periods of time and short periods
