Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD 2002 - Will not start from cold - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Size and Code *: 2.8 jtd
( Optional ) Scanner Used: SOLUS

We had this van in for a service all seemed ok. Customer says it wont start from cold now. If we spray a bit of easystart it goes every time. It seems to have a system with just a glow plug in the inlet with a fuel pipe connected to it. As far as we have checked the glow plug is heating up. I havent seen this type before. Are we barking up the wrong tree with this.there dosent seem to be any fault codes. Any help would be good. Thanks

I,v not checked any info , but if it has an inlet heater do not spray easy-start into the inlet !!! it will most likely ignite and blow back.

Is this common rail or injector pump ? does it run OK After starting?

I think this is the iveco engine. If so and it is conventional pump, check the timing as it can jump on cold start. This is due to a combination of drag from power steering pump and loose belt when cold. This fault does also cause running issues

Kev is correct, you must disable the thermo start if using Easy start.

FIXED. Sorry its taken so long to post the fix.we found that the fuel pressure was low and traced the fault to number 2 injector leaking.replaced injector and all ok now.starts on the button even with the weather that weve had lately.Happy customer now.
