Peugeot Expert 1.9D WJY 2005 - Fault code P0405 EGR valve circuit - Fixed #

Engine Size and Code *: 1.9
( Optional ) Scanner Used: KTS & Modis
( Optional) Fault Codes: P0405

The customer bought this vehicle about 4 months ago. When driving it had a bit of hesitation, he told me he had taken it back to the garage he bought it from but they had no diagnostic equipment to check it

I had it in today and sure enough code P0405, as the valve was easy to get at I removed to inspect, it was coked up and plenty of black sludge but the valve was closed

I replaced the valve, but after running for a while the code returned. I tried to actuate with Modis & KTS but no joy. I then scoped but no signal on either wire

There is no wiring diagram on Vivid and Bosch ESi has no info on this system, so now I am a little stuck

Has anyone had issued with broken, corroded wiring
in certain locations?

Any info would be helpful before I dive into looms etc

I think I can help with a wiring diagram, but would need a fax number.

IT Descrbed as A EGR solnoid valve, is yours vac operated ? Live feed from Multi function relay and ecu switched earth.

Does that sound like correct system ?

Hi Aidan

Yes this one is vac operated, the vac solenoid is part of the Bosch EGR

Firstly thanks to Simon and Aidan for the info and diagrams, could not have done this repair without them

Hooked up Pico. I had 12v at pin 15 (supply to relay) on the engine bay relay and 12v at pin 6 to EGR. I had 12v at the EGR for a few seconds then it dropped out

A good wiggle of the loom back to the relay and the 12v kept dropping in and out. Cut back the loom and found the wire rubbed through at the clamp on top of the power steering pump

Soldered in new wire and job done
