Ford Transit Connect 1.8 TDCi 2005 - Compression figure? #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 1800 tdci

hello out there , can anyone arm me with accurate compression figure for this veh,its struggling to start from cold,however only done 44k & only town work ,is it possible for diesel to have "gummed up" rings? thanks in advance keith

I think minimum you want to see bout 300 psi but im not 100% sure

Minimum 400psi - 490psi (28bar-34bar)

thanks for that , only getting just over 200 psi on all cylinders,ill get my spanners out!

Keith , if the mileage is correct the engine shouldnt be worn out at that, is everything else ok .......cam timing , valve clearances ??

If it only totters around town go and give it the death up the carridge way , sorts all them city vehicles out

yep ,checked tappets & all other possibiltys,also now belongs to a builder who only has 2 speeds,one is stopped & you can guess the other,when this fails to start if you whip the heater plugs out they are damp,must be low compression figue causing that!also if it does start we get heavy dieseling during heater plug duration,which cuts the instant the plugs go off!
