Citroen Belingo 2.0 HDi 2003 - Codes P1351, P1641 & P1197, hard to start #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 2000
( Optional ) Scanner Used: spc
( Optional) Fault Codes: p1351 / p1641 /p1197

customer came in when engine light came on and said it had taken more starting than usual that morning, found codes p1351 pre post heating relay, p1641 injector command power step defective, p1197 injector command circuit failure, we cleared these codes and he did 500 miles with no problems and then engine light came on again and he couldn't start next morning, trailered it in to us pluged in and it had same codes on, cleared the codes and it started up and ran fine.

Stephen.
Is it siemens or bosch system, as the codes have different discritions for the different systems.
But checking the injector wiring could be a good place to start.

You need to check capacitaces of all 4 injectors

Stephen i know its a Siemens system thats why i advised checking the injectors capacitance [is that the right term??] value

thanks kev but don't quite understand what you mean by capacitance, could you explain to me how you would check them.

Hi,
In general terms there are two types of injector fitted to the modern CR diesel engine.

1) Is a solenoid operated injector, these have a very low internal Resistance (usually under 0.4 of one Ohm) and can be checked using an Ohms meter.

2) Is a Piezo Injector, these have a very high resistance but a very low Capacitance ( usually approx 0.0035 of a Farad) and can be checked with a suitable meter/testbench.

Your Injection system should be fitted with Piezo injectors and this is what Steve is pointing at. HTH

thanks for that' Checked the capacitance and got a reading of 0.0029farad on 3 injectors and 0.0028 farad on 1 injector, is this differance relevant?

Hi Stephen,
I would say no, but what about the wiring?
Check the harness for shorts to positive and earth, if all looks good then check and compare the circuits with a scope whilst running. HTH

thanks for that, have checked the wiring best we can and can't see any problem with that, had scope on all injectors and getting same waveform off them all, customer took car and it was perfect for 4 days and then engine light came on again and when stopped wouldn't start, they tried again 2 hours later and it started.
