Renault Trafic 1.9 DCi 100 2003 - Will not rev when started - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 1.9 dci 100hp
( Optional ) Scanner Used: AL

Got this trafic in that when started will not rev up, the idle speed is slightly low and is what's causing the problem, give it a little sniff of eazy start while it's running to give it a nudge and then it's fine, no problem at all.
I've checked everything I can, fuel pressure at idle is 300 bar, back leak test was fine,egr is good, no fuel restrictions or air restrictions, it's just the idle is about 50rpm too low when it starts. Thinking it could be cam timing or just mechanical wear but it starts perfect and drives perfect.
Has anyone ever come across a similar problem?

IF you think all it needs is the idle increased, and if you have the correct diag. kit (clip, tech 2 or consult 3) the idle could be adjusted.

Yeah I've tried that, it seems like it just hasn't finished it's start up procedure, so it won't allow you to drive, it must have to reach a predetermined set point first, once it's up and running then the rpm thats specified it will reach fine.
Just been advised it may need a software update, so looks like I will have to send it on it's way.

No Kevin, AL can't help with this one, which is a shame as I sold my clip

Hi Kev,

Autologic have not yet released flash programming on French yet, I would expect it to be anopther 12 months yet. All other functions seem to be there though on most models/systems but still some development to do.

The French stuff has realy come on since I purchased mine back in November, I have every faith in their software engineers continuing with their rapid development.

Had one like this about 18 months ago, and found there was a software upgrdae as it is a known problem.

Had a vivaro doing this last week and it turned out to be sludge in the fuel filter - had to take the bowl off and wash it out , it looked raw egg white in there

I know it's been a while, but new injectors fixed this.

ok it,s starting making a sence. Because some time ago we had mondeo with similar problem. Start up and then few seconds no throttle response. And I remember long time ago customer turned up to have some job done and in the morning couldn't rev it for a few seconds.So my question is : we as independents can we perform software update? What about all of this pass thru tools? Does anybody know? I stopped sending the cars to dealers to get the job done on my responsibility to much problems.

Piotr look up j2534 progamming. Bba reman have some good info in there tool section.mdi. bosch.snap on do one for there us market.You might want to start a new post.

I've had a couple of Vivaro's like this. It is a known problem, first step is to check & update ECU software. Did this on 3 iv'e done but made no difference. Also meant to make sure there is no extra load on startup.
If fault is still there, according to bulletin its an injector. So check leak off.. Again have not isolated a single injector as the leak off test has been ok.
So we replaced all 4 injectors, no.1 was siezed, removed head - they couldnt even drill out so new head! (Luckily it was a warranty job!)
Set of new injectors and vehicle fixed.

So my question is.. What is it with the injectors that causes this fault??
