Renault Master 2.5TD 2006 - Hesitation / excessive smoke - Fixed #

Hi all
This van came in with a hesitation/excessive smoking complaint at between 2000 and 3000 rpm at light throttle. My first instinct was MAF sensor but this vehicle does not have one! No fault codes were stored so i removed the EGR valve which was badly coked up. I fitted a replacement (pierberg) EGR and this cured the fault but introduced another one which is very little power when cold (it wouldn't pull your socks off). Does anyone know if the EGR need to be re-adapted and without a MAF sensor how does the ECU calculate fueling?
P.S. this van needs to go out today as the customer comes back from holiday tonight.

Allan, I have been caught out by Renault EGR's that need re-adaption. I've tried looking on my Autocom for your particular model and have over twenty variants listed! I think it relies on System Identification to pick the right one. As for the ecu calculating fueling, how about engine temperature, engine speed, atmospheric pressure, inlet air temperature, throttle position, manifold pressure and many of the other parameters listed in live data,

Hi Peter
Thanks for your response.The vehicle has gone out now but as his next job is my extension at home i will get it back in asap and check for the ecu system fitted and post the findings.

Hi and thanks for the replies
As mentioned in the initial post the customer had to have the vehicle back and the fault has gradually reduced every day until it rectified itself completely.I can only presume that the ecu has re-learnt the adaptation for the egr itself.
