Ford Mondeo 2.0 2004 - Injector coding, code P2338 cylinder 3 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 130bhp
( Optional ) ECU Type: ford
( Optional ) Scanner Used: solus pro
( Optional) Fault Codes: p2338

code p2338 cyl 3 above knock threshold will not clear runs rough bad starting and terrible smoke inj no 3 has been removed and tested by our local diesel shop and found to be knackered they supplied a new unit and was coded in by ourselves but the fault still persists and the same code returns!! does cyl no 3 mean no 3 on engine or no 3 in firing order ?? could i have another faulty injector ?

Cylinder 3 means number 4, as in 1342.

hi john , no 3 cyl is engine cyl 3 , you do have to code all 4 cylinders in order , i know you only had a fault one but code all injectors, i did 2 cars last week with snap-on that way and all worker well, dave

when coding with snap on software when it asks to do another injector you need to press no to finish coding that injector i have found i would never code the others if not needed i also agree with mark that the order is 1 3 4 2

i not sure if carl is using the 10.2 version , but it tells you on your scanner it is in cylinder order, i dont know if the year makes a differance, as the last ones i did were 03 plate , thanks dave

Hi John

The thing is, that when you code all injectors in one procedure, you have no way of knowing if your method is correct.

You could enter them completely wrong & still have the same end result. i.e. the "excess knock" code will be gone & the glow plug light won't flash. But will each injector receive the correct trimming?

Much better to code the offending cylinder/injector only, so you are sure that it has been done correctly.

There are so many myths associated with this process. It is becoming old technology now & there's still lots of uncertainty about it.
