Year of Manufacture *: 2003 Engine Size and Code *: F9QT ( Optional ) Scanner Used: Multiscan ( Optional) Fault Codes: 26,41,48
The symptoms for this vehicle are that it will cut out after about 1 minute and will almost always restart immediately, it then occasionally cuts out whilst driving. When read with Multiscan it first reports "unidentified system ID". It is possible to gain comms using one of the alternative ID's it offers, I then got the following codes:-
41 Throttle valve sol 26 CSP sensor 48 GE When cleared the 48 returned immediately and the engine was allowed to idle for a while, when it stopped the 26 had returned. I initially changed the Crankshaft sensor (seemed likely to be either crankshaft or camshaft sensor and to be honest was under a bit of pressure by the customer to do something in the middle of a busy week). Car was ok for a couple of days apparently before re-offending. When read again the 26 and the 48 were present. I disconnected the cam sensor and that returned a code 12 boost sensor. it seems from this that the code descriptions are likely to be wrong. To be fair Multiscan is generally quite good but seems to have let me down on this occasion. This engine is not listed in the 2010 Autodata book and although Texa claims to talk to this vehicle no comms, I hate to be in this situation, untrustworthy results and no way to back-up or disprove them. Can anyone give me a description of what those codes mean for this engine, please? Regards, Shaun
HTH have you tried going in under Renault say a laguna II and looking for a F9Q but match the numbers after F9Q which should be like 750, 752, 754 These are normally on the engine block clutch end at the front below the breather assembly either stamped in the block or on a plate. Have done this a few times with Mitsubishi carismas and space stars which run someone elses engines.
Hi Anthony, Thanks for the info. Did try talking to it as a Renault, I got comms but it was very flaky. I probably did not have quite the right engine code. The customer however, lives some distance away and only works near me so keeps taking the car away every evening. I have told him he will have to leave the vehicle with me. Still waiting for him to book it in. Thanks, Shaun.
