You are a very lucky person, in that Andrew has chosen to help you in your hour of need.
Listen very carefully to what he tells you and the advise he has given. This just may save you a small fortune. Fingers crossed that the hardware you have purchased from BBA is capable of programming the DDE.?
You are not the first and will not be the last , the aftermarket is awash with cheap Chinese copied machines. Every tom dick and harry are flash updating ECU with infera hardware and out of date software. You are playing Russian roulette
I see this quite regular, with IDS , PSS and Lexia.
I always ask the question, if this programming fails will i be able to fix the situation.
If your answer is no then leave it well alone.
Have you had any Technical training or access to Technical manuals on BMW products in the last 5 years.
Do you understand DME/DDE variant coding , ZCS ,vehicle order and CIP procedures.
If your answer is not really then let this be a lesson , either find out or leave it the people who do know.
This not a attack at you , just a honest straight forward advise.
FIXED,your right darren, i am a very lucky man Russain roulette CAN BE FUN. Many thanks to Andrew Reullen for spending the time guiding and coaching me through a large number of ways to breathe life back into DDE ECU.Its Andrews knowledge thats saved a older bmw a vist to a main dealer or life sentance. THE KIT did work after all, but still feeling very let down by bba, I hope the back up will improve as we have invested alot of money with them. Some times the best training is to do the job and learn as you are helped along the way,as its no good standing still.

Darren we are ALL very fortunate to have andrew and yourself help with these issues as i know all to well .We had 2004 E46 330 coupe came from a bmw dealer to us,they had supplied a new ecu and tried to programe it to the car with out success they told him there was something very serious wrong with the wiring/electrics, that is the words they used.A few coversation with andrew the ecu was programmed customer very happy his car was no longer scrap, this took valuable time of andrew,s which he gave with out question. I hope this problem has not put james off, hopefully he will realise how good this forum is,there are people who contribute who a lot of us cannot hold a candle to.regards Mike mcDowell
