Avensis 2.2 D-cat - Loosing power & smoking, code P2047 #

Engine Code or CC *: 2.2 D4D
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Modis

Hi all,
Hope someone can shed a little light on this one,its for a mate of mine that has helped me out in the past.
The car will drive fine,then suddenly loose power and flag fault code P2047 "Reductant injector open circuit or short to earth".
Anyone know the whereabouts or test method of this injector ? I think it might have something to do with the particulate filter but not sure.
Open to any ideas or suggestions.

The code def you have got is generic is it not?

I've got P2047 for Toyota as "Reductant Injector Circuit/Open (Bank 1 Unit 1).

What "Reductant" means I don't know.

Time for the scope me thinks.

re·duc·tant (r-dktnt) n. A reducing agent.

Noun 1. reductant - a substance capable of bringing about the reduction of another substance as it itself is oxidized.

Therefore, a reductant injector ia a component that injects reductant.

Ahh, the mist clears.

I didn't realize these had an additive.
Thought they just had a standard DPF

You're correct in your suspicions Dave. This fault code is indeed for the particulate filter injector. Check the wiring and see what voltages you have. I don't have anything toyota specific but usually you would expect to see 2 wires, one at battery voltage and the other a switched earth. If you don't have battery voltage check the fuses, then wiring etc. If thats ok check for the switched earth from the ecu.

Diagnose the same as a normal injector really.
