VW Sharan TDI 2003 - Alternator pulley replacement, what tool required? #

Engine Code or CC *: NA

What size of tools are typically needed to replace the "Free-wheel" pulley on these?

Never thought i would being saying this BUT Snap-on do a good kit at a reasonable price. Not that i have one as i got mine a few years ago and was quite expensive. (Klann)

Have a sealey version a good while with no probs yet
is code SX400 was bought from PVRdirect about £15.

Sealley do two kits.

SX400 and SX401.

SX401 is the more substantial kit but it is not clear if SX401 includes all the functionality of SX400 (IYSWIM) or whether both kits are needed to get the full range.

(The contents "Look" diferent but may do the same job)

SX401 suggests VW specifically but it would be nice to know for sure.

I dont mind buying both kits if nececarry. I just dont want to buy the wrong one first IYSWIM

I have a laser kit and is doing that what we need , never had a problem with that.Worth to have one.

We have bought several of these individual tools from Cargo and Quite a few have got the inner shaft Broken over time. ( We do use them regularly ) We Also bought a kit off Snapon as it was very Reasonably priced and so far we have not damaged anything in the kit. ( Amazing for us )

But to be Honest, It has not had the amount of use and abuse that the cargo ones have so far.

The outer splines from the cargo ones are now used with the air gun and we dont even bother holding the inner shaft ( rotor ) for losening or even tightening the pulleys, ( even though the pulley spins freely one way ) . ?

We have tried tightening the pulleys with the correct tools after using the air gun but
we can never tighten them any more with the tools.

So Zip em off, and Zip em back on again.
