Peugeot 307 1.6 2005 - Depolution fault , additive level overfilled - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Code or CC *: 1600

Hi Guys I have been asked to look at this 307 Depolution Fault for another garage. They tell me the message on the dash says (Additive Level Overfilled) We have done loads of these faults but never seen this message before. Car comming in on Wednesday, I'll know more info then.

The other garage was correct Additive Level Overfilled. fitted and configured new ecu and all ok.

kieth what lead you to replace ecu i cannot understand a ecu knowing it was too full

Hi Michael, I think it is virtually impossible to over fill the additive tank so ruled that fault out. Tank was half full anyway. I kept loosing Com's with the additive ecu which prompted me to check connections I did get Com's after disconnecting and re-connecting the 12 pin connector but suddenly lost them again, having checked the connector and knowing all was OK I went ahead and replaced the ECU. Nice easy repair for one of these and very little configuring too.

Hi Keith

Some clarification for those who don't know....

Does this additive tank have a level sensor, like those we see in fuel tanks?

Was it buggered?

Hi Dave, there is no gauge like the one in the fuel tank. The additive tanks usually hold around 3 to 4 litres in general. The measured amount from the ecu knows how much should be left. That's why there is the need to reset counters when filled.

what sort of scantool did you use and were was ecu you replaced located

Hi Dave the ECU is located behind the glove box just above the footwell. Black plastic box 12 pin connector with the letters aggo. The tool I used was Planet. try disconnecting and re-connecting 75% of the time this is a fix.

hi all just to save someone some time i did two 307 1.6 hdi addative ecu,s today first one was 03 saloon addative ecu was as kieth said behind fusebox/bsi,second one was 04 sw and addative ecu was under passenger seat.hth Michael McDowell

Also for information there is a low level sensor in addition to the counter. It will trigger the "DPF fluid minimum level reached" message. I think it is a thermistor, presume the resistance must change when not submerged in fluid for a long enough period of time.
