Ordered a replacement ecu from dealer having specifically asked if it required programming as the car had no plip remote or anything visible re immobiliser etc. Told....... nope it an old one so its just plug and play. PLONKERS. If it required programming I would have let the owner get it recovered to dealer and just billed him my diagnostic time.
New one fitted. No start and temp gauge reading almost red on the scale when cold, works backwards. Called dealer again, then told oh yes thats needing programmed and we'll have £100 for the pleasure.

Using Autodiagnose, I relearnt the security, adapted it for a 2 track pedal and recalibrated the accelorator pedal. Now it started and drove but still had the temp gauge working the wrong way and there was a slight hesitation/surge around 60mph. Turns out that all these ecus are preset for a 2002 Discovery 2 Man/Euro. Have tried to change to Defender but no joy. Had it on a T4 today and seems like it wont change it either. (box shaded grey) Now thinking it maybe cant be changed after security has been learnt???? Can anything be done or should I be looking for someone with an Auto Logic locally to reflash it?

    Many thanks.
