    Peugeot 305 2.0TDi 2005 Sport - Fuel contamination # Archived Message

This is just a general question for now since I have not seen that car (and am unlikely to do so)

It is currently in bits and is unlikely to be fixed.

The owner (a friend of My Mothers) reckons that it started to run really badly after filling up with fuel from a well known supermarket!

Subsequently he had a new EGR valve fitted which seemed to improve things for a couple of days before the lights came back on and the engine started to run really badly. The injectors have been tested by Bosch (allegedly) and have been deemed all U/S

His own analysis of the fuel suggests that it has been "watered down" with untaxed kerosene to the tune of around 5%.

(Apparently kerosene contains a chemical marker in the same way that red diesel does which allows the concentration to be reasonably accurately measured)

The question is, would this contaminated fuel really have the potential to wreck the fuel system in this way??

(If more details are required I can get them for tomorrow. This was just the product of an over-lunch conversation)
