We have a Mondeo in that has a warm up issue. Car starts and runs fine, except at one particular point on the temp gauge (just as the guage moves off the bottom)after about 5 mins of running it gets a 'cough', almost like a misfire and feels like its going to break down! this only happens on steady throttle - when its coughing if accelerate you get full smooth power. this is repeatable almost every day at the same point on the temp gauge. We have scanned for codes and none are present. Logged MAF, engine temp, RPM and all seem ok with no obvious blips. Recoded injectors with no improvement. I suspect a faulty temperature sender. Does this engine have 2 (one for dash display, one for ECU input?). Anyone know where they are?
