Ford Focus C-Max 2.0 TDCi 2004 - Occasional rough start # Archived Message

    Two problems.

    1) Occasional rough start (At which point owner switches off and tries again. If it starts OK, it runs OK) Owners friend recovered fault codes for brake switch and MAF/ATC.

    2) On switch off, Rev counter doesn't go down to zero (sticks at about 900) Turning the ign on and off again clears this.

    Now...

Didn't do the misfire for me. I only retrieved fault codes for brake light switch (which did not return after clearing)

(Owner also pointed out that he had recently changed the reversing light switch. Given its location it is entirely possible that he might have left the ignition on with the MAF disconnected)

I know these are susceptible to water in fuel issues and was wondering whether or not Wynns "Dry Fuel" is safe to use in common rail diesel systems.

I would like to eliminate water issues before making any other "guesses" (Customer wondererd if we might change the MAF on the basis of the alleged fault code.I said though it might be an option in the future if all else fails, for now I would not recommend doing so unless you want to spend a lot of money on not fixing it!) and unless anybody comes up with a "Magic Bullet" My next plan is to go back and check/replace fuel filter and use the "Dry Fuel" (unless anybody says dont do that!) and see how it goes.

    So, my first question is.

Is "Dry Fuel" OK for CR Diesels??

My second is, is there an "Issue" with the dashboards on these that affects the Rev counter in this way. BBA Lists "Complete failure" and engine cut out as an issue, but not the rev counter on its own
