Pete Quote "Going to go for cps as starters" , what's for seconds or thirds ?????? Diagnosis by substitute parts is not the the way to go and is a bad move. Either get the Correct software that allows you to access the DDE4 control unit using the correct protocol or give it to someone else who has the correct equipment. Until you get the correct DTC fault codes and Live data its the good old crystal ball diagnosis. I can tell you this, the M47R engine fitted to BMW E46 , Rover 75 & Freelander, are very reliable with regards to crank sensor failure. Don't think I ever replace a faulty crank sensor on this engine yet. I have assumed when you say CPS you mean crank position sensor.........????? HTH Darren
