Thanks for the replies guys, I don't think it's a fuel supply problem as the rail pressure requested and actual are fine and if i disconnect the MAF it goes slightly better but shit loads of black smoke and knocks like mad (doesn't sound good), so plenty of fuel there.
As for the MAF programming, the problem is still the same with the original MAF, exactly, so I don't suspect that either.
I've slackened the exhaust at the turbo too and makes no difference at all. EGR is workin fine too and doesn't make any difference if I disconnect it.
A bit more info has come through though. Originally the turbo failed and according to bmw care the cylinders had filled with oil, customer supplied a new turbo and was fit by bmw care and they also fitted a new breather modified part and reflashed the ecu for the new breather mod, then left it at that and returned it to customer, the turbo is making good boost though.
I have a feeling it's a mechanical problem now but it starts and runs fine.
The car was ok before the turbo failed so it's either a turbo fault, engine mechanical fault or bad programming and wrong ecu software, I think.
Now I can reflash ecu but I don't know what software version it should have, ecu is 0281010565 if anyone knows?

Think I might have to walk away from this one, just can't get my head round it.

    Chris
