04 Skoda octavia 1.9 PDI classic Speed sensor Archived Message

A high mileage car that gets serviced every 10000 miles. new timing belt fitted then 1000 miles later difficult to start and rough running. Code came up with speed sensor fault. replaced and car ran fine. A few day's later same problem and same fault. Rechecked timing and was spot on. Customer thought the problem was more apparent when roads were wet. When are they not!!. The sensor on this engine is a pig to get to and with the under tray fitted finding it hard to see how water can get onto sensor. Any ideas? This is used as a taxi so when off the road it is not making money. Does not help when he is a good friend of mine

    Regards
